FAQ
Questions About Landscaping Work Around Beckley
These are the questions we hear most about landscaping, hardscaping and
land work around Beckley. If yours is not here, call or text and we will
answer it.
A landscaping contractor plans and installs the outdoor parts of a property. Our landscaping work covers new beds, shrubs and trees, sod and seasonal color. We deliver and plant privacy trees like Green Giant arborvitae. Mulch, soil, sand and rock can be delivered too.
What is the difference between landscaping and hardscaping?
Landscaping covers the soft parts of a yard, like plants, trees, sod and mulch. Hardscaping is the built part, like a paver patio, a retaining wall, outdoor steps or a fire pit. Many outdoor projects use both. We design and build both, so the two fit together.
Do you design the landscape or only install it?
We do both. We look at the site and talk through what you want. Then we work out the landscape design and build it.
How does pricing work for a landscaping job?
The size of the job and the materials you pick drive most of the price. A steep yard or a tight spot for the machines can add to it. We look at the job first, then give you a free estimate with the quote in writing. Financing is available.
What areas do you serve?
Our service area centers on Beckley, in southern West Virginia. We work in Raleigh County, Fayette County, Mercer County, Nicholas County and Summers County. Towns include Oak Hill, Fayetteville, Summersville, Princeton, Hinton, Shady Spring, Daniels, Crab Orchard, Beaver and MacArthur. See the towns we serve for the full list.
Do you work for businesses and coal mine sites?
Yes. We serve both residential and commercial clients. Commercial work includes hardscapes for businesses and snow plowing for parking lots. We also work with coal mines to keep their sites clear and clean.
Do you work in the winter?
Hardscape work runs into late fall. Beckley averages about 56 inches of snow a year, based on NOAA weather records. Once the snow comes, we switch to snow plowing and snow removal. We plow driveways and parking lots for homes and businesses, along with coal mine sites and their access roads.
Do I need a permit for a patio or a retaining wall?
It depends on the job and where the property sits. Inside Beckley city limits, the City of Beckley Code Enforcement Office handles building permits and zoning. Outside the city, the county or the town sets the rules, and we point you to the right office. A tall retaining wall may also need an engineer's design.
Who calls 811 before the digging starts?
West Virginia law says anyone who digs or grades must notify West Virginia 811 before the work starts. The notice goes in at least 48 hours ahead, not counting weekends and holidays. Then the member utilities mark their buried lines. Homeowners are covered too, though tilling soil for a home garden is left out.
